mattIn 2011, Coach Matt Gallagher reached his goal of winning the State Champoinship. With a team that he largely cultivated from the pee-wee's to the varsity, the 2011 team, now fond memories, is quite possibly the finest Spartan team to have ever donned an M-E uniform. In 2012, having dropped to class 'B' due to reduced enrollment, they loomed large in the state as the overwhelming favorite to repeat a State Championship and did infact win. Some said that year that they could have beat any team from AA down to D. His mark of excellence and attention to detail has garnered 4 state championships and a consecutive wins record of 51 games, as well as a handful of coach of the year accolades.

Gallagher has coached Maine-Endwell football in some capacity for better than twenty years at both the varsity level, as well as the pee-wee. It's worth noting that Matt has made the pee-wee program an integral part of the Maine-Endwell Football profile. His staff cultivates our youth programs by attending practices with players, as well as furnishing scaled down plays and formations that they will eventually execute as scholastic players. Additionally, Gallagher served Maine-Endwell as the head coach of the Varsity wrestling program from 1993 - 2002.

Matt attended Wagner College on Staten Island where he earned an undergraduate degree in Education. He went on to complete his graduate degree at Binghamton University and currently teaches sixth grade at Maine-Endwell Middle School. Coach Gallagher resides in Endwell with his wife Julie, and their three sons Kyle, Adam, and Drew.
