2010 BINGHAMTON SCOUTING REPORT

2010 Binghamton Scouting Report

For those of you who witnessed Binghamton's 40 - 10 romping of U-E this past weekend, you've seen all that you need to see where a skills assessment is concerned. Binghamton, who appeared to have a slow start to 2010, has cut through some early season contention and proved themselves to be the AA giant they traditionally are. So what does Maine-Endwell have to look out for in the Pats? -- Everything!

Coach Ramil has got to be thrilled this year to have the best of three orchestral functions working in perfect harmony at his disposal. Passing, rushing, and stealthy movement throughout has tripped up many defensive efforts attempting to thwart the speedy Patriots. Binghamton receivers Tino Yevchinecz, Eric Cody, Kevin Rowe, and Hamza Abdush-Shahid have combined this season for what can only be deemed a vulgar amount of receiving yards, nearly 400 of which were earned in the U-E game alone. What's worth special note is that U-E is not a bad team in their own right. They have faced down several very tough opponents this year themselves and are gritty. Binghamton's passing game is just "that good!" Spear-heading the offense is 6-2 senior, Wayne Bonsell, who is characteristic of many past Binghamton Quarterbacks. Smooth in the pocket and deceiving on the delivery, Bonsell will be a very tough customer to track and key in the midst of the already quirky flow of the Binghamton shotgun offense. Making matters worse for opponents of Binghamton are super cutting backs, should Bonsell opt for the rush. J.J. Jones leverages skills that are on par with any tailback in the region and will prove a significant degree tougher to stop when mixed in with the advanced passing game presented by the Patriots.

While Maine-Endwell has an assortment of fine weaponry in their own offensive ranks and will place points on the board for the Spartans, it is the defense that will be forced to win this game. Each Spartan athlete manning the defensive secondary must have nothing short of a "career day" if they're going keep Binghamton's pass play at bay and stop the ground assault at the same time. Coach Gallagher noted in the Owego game that the defense adopted a "gang tackle" mentality in order to truncate plays that might have otherwise turned the corner for extra yards. This attitude will have to be at the forefront of every Spartans mind for them to be successful this Saturday.
